THERE'S NO MISTAKING THE OBVIOUS: CONSERVATIVE PROPAGANDISTS WOULD JUST LOVE TO INVOKE THE NAME AND MEMORY OF ESPECIALLY THE LATE RONALD REAGAN to the point of sainthood when it comes to advancing their articles of faith, never mind such being quickly deflated by the Secular-Progressive community.
With facts, no less.
Case in point, thanks to ThinkProgress (emphasis supplied):
Appearing on CSPAN’s Washington Journal this morning, Rep. Mike Pence (R-IN), the third ranking Republican in the House, repeatedly claimed that the solution to the economic crisis was to “do what Ronald Reagan did” and implement “across-the-board permanent marginal tax reductions.” Towards the end of his interview, however, a caller challenged Pence’s idea, saying that deficits exploded under Reagan, forcing the first President Bush to raise taxes.
Pence replied that the caller was right that Reagan “saw deficits and the national debt grow,” but claimed it was the fault of spending in Congress because Reagan’s tax cuts “resulted in more than a doubling of the revenues.” Pence then asked viewers to “check me on this”:
PENCE: You’re absolutely correct in saying that they saw deficits and the national debt grow under President Reagan, but it was — and check me on this, people can check things easily on the internet these days, check me on this — the rate reductions that President Reagan enacted resulted in more than a doubling of the revenues over the next seven years that went from the American people to the federal government.
Watch it:
ThinkProgress loves a challenge, so we looked into Pence’s claim. As he suggested, it wasn’t hard to find out on the internet that this common conservative claim is wrong.
As Media Matters noted when Sean Hannity made the same argument, revenues did not get close to doubling under Reagan:
According to the White House’s Office of Management and Budget (OMB), when adjusted for inflation to constant fiscal year 2000 dollars, receipts (revenues) increased only from $1.077 trillion to $1.236 trillion during Reagan’s term in office. Even in unadjusted (current) dollars, Hannity’s claim that revenues “doubled” to more than $1 trillion during the Reagan administration is false: From 1981 to 1988, revenues in current dollars increased from $599.3 billion to $909.3 billion.
Additionally, the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities (CBPP) has found that “Income tax receipts grew noticeably more slowly than usual in the 1980s, after the large cuts in individual and corporate income tax rates in 1981.” In contrast, “income tax collections grew much more rapidly in the 1990s,” when “marginal income tax rates at the top of the income spectrum were raised,” wrote CBPP.
Meanwhile, need I reiterate my previous suggestion to conservative propagandists that they please cite actual examples from the here and now of such developed countries that actually have low unemployment rates within free-market parameters thanks to low-tax policies.
And need I further remind them that the main reason Communist regimes claimed to have nil-rate unemployment (which, know, they were forever insisting would be among capitalism's failings and undoings), apart from the usual propaganda angle, was the creation of "make-work/fake-work" positions to create the aura therefor. That, and reminding one and all where donations can actually be made to reduce the National Debt made all the worse by flawed conservative ideology made all the more hard-wired, to be sent to:

Remember, too, that I intend to donate part of my proceeds from this blog's online shopping to Reduction of the National Debt--unless anyone can Show Cause why the National Debt needs to be kept all the higher for other than the obvious patsy of "political reasons" (including Far Right designs on having same refinanced through a series of gold-backed securities issues handled by "Christian" investment houses, or reasonable facsimilies thereof).

The Religiopolitical Right's Most Wonderful Time of Year
AS HAS BECOME SOMETHING OF A LAUGHABLE HABIT AND TRADITION COINCIDENT WITH THE START OF THE NEW YEAR, PAT "700 CLUB" ROBERTSON HAS GONE INTO ISAAC BICKERSTAFF MODE to announce his Predictions for the Ensuing Year, as Revealed to Him by G-d A-mighty.
As revealed to a candid world by Right Wing Watch of People For the American Way:
It’s the beginning of the year, so you know that that means: Pat Robertson is back with his report on what God told him to expect in this coming year during his annual prayer retreat:
Pat Robertson, founder of the Christian Broadcasting Network, announced at his staff's annual prayer retreat that God told him Americans would embrace socialism in 2009 "in order to relieve their pain" and that the economy would rebound under an Obama administration.
"The Lord said the economy of your nation will recover," Robertson told a group assembled at Founders Inn on the campus of Regent University in Virginia Beach, Va., a university Robertson founded.
Robertson said God also declared, "The steps taken will lead to a dramatic increase in the power of government. The people will welcome socialism in order to relieve their pain. Nothing will stand in the way of a plan by Obama to restructure the economy in the same fashion as the New Deal in the '30s."
…
Socialist policies and massive government spending, Robertson told Meeuwsen, could lead to heavy hyperinflation, sending prices through the roof and the value of the dollar through the floor.
"The Lord said the dollar is going to go down dramatically," Robertson said in the interview. "If I'm hearing him right, gold will go to about $1900 dollars an ounce and oil to $300 a barrel."
Conveniently, CBN has posted the entire segment on YouTube for easy viewing, so you can listen for yourself as Robertson informs his audience that "Islam is weakening" and that poverty and misery will become so widespread that it will lead ten of millions to Christ:
Since they began the segment by highlighting a few instances where Robertson’s 2008 predictions proved correct, it only seems fair for us to remind everyone of his dire 2007 predictions when he warned that God had told him to expect a massive terrorist attack on US cities that would kill “possibly millions of people.”
As per usual, we need to ask whether Pat Robertson may really be some class of a closet inebriate, judging by the extent of his claiming to have received Divine Communication making such dire warnings as it does from year to year. In fact, those who study alcoholics' behaviour will tell you that a common behaviourial trait in the element is claiming to have found religion or religious experience, howbeit insincerely (as it turns out in the end).
Not to mention suggesting as Insightful Reading none other than The Predictions for the Year 1708 by "Isaac Bickerstaff" (t/n Jonathan Swift), which was actually intended as a satire directed as much @ almanac publishers as towards such classes (usually rather low) relying on such for information and advice; the passage which made the whole exercise legendary was this paragraph (quoted in Wikimedia):
My first prediction is but a trifle, yet I will mention it, to show how ignorant those sottish pretenders to astrology are in their own concerns: It relates to Partridge the almanack-maker; I have consulted the stars of his nativity by my own rules, and find he will infallibly die upon the 29th of March next, about eleven at night, of a raging fever; therefore I advise him to consider of it, and settle his affairs in time.
In the end, of course, it was Partridge who became ruined by the hoax when, on April 1st, the sexton of a nearby church asked Partridge @ his residence whether he had anything in mind for his euology, only to find Partridge rather alive and well. In time, sales of Partridge's almanacks (which were published and distributed exclusively through the Stationers' Company, as had an official monopoly on same) collapsed to the point where he lost his livelihood and died bankrupt.
But not before Bickerstaff (er, Swift) came out with this "Epitaph to Partridge" heaping satiric scorn in equal measure on not only Partridge, but also those who fell for his almanacks (via Wikimedia):
Here, five Foot deep, lies on his Back, A Cobler, Starmonger, and Quack; Who to the Stars in pure Good-will, Does to his best look upward still. Weep all you Customers that use His Pills, his Almanacks, or Shoes; And you that did your Fortunes seek, Step to his Grave but once a Week: This Earth which bears his Body's Print, You'll find has so much Vertue in't, That I durst pawn my Ears 'twill tell Whate'er concerns you full as well, In Physick, Stolen Goods, or Love, As he himself could, when above.
Whether much the same will be said of Pat Robertson when his time comes, we will leave that to the Fates.

AND SPEAKING OF ONE OF PAT ROBERTSON'S PAST TARGETS, AS IN VENEZUELAN MAJORDOMO HUGO CHAVEZ, his regime (as is majority owner of Citgo) has cancelled continued support of a scheme providing the Lower Classes in the otherwise "morally superior" United States with free heating oil.
The whole being deemed necessary because of resources needing to be redirected to domestic initiatives towards "empowerment" of the Lower Classes.
No doubt the neoconservatives will be rejoicing in the snug of The Gross Suckling card-key club down Branson way before too long....
WITH TECHNICALLY OUTGOING SENATOR NORM COLEMAN STILL INSISTING THAT THE MINNESOTA SENATE RACE IS YET TO BE DECLARED "OFFICIAL" notwithstanding the final pronouncement of the Minnesota State Canvassing Board declaring his rival, Al Franken, to be the winner following that rather notoriously drawn-out recount, his announcement of legal action based on rather absurd technicalities before the Minnesota Supreme Court can only mean one thing:
Senator Coleman has basically guaranteed himself a Life Membership in the Sour Grapes Club, with same seconded by conservative propagandists continuing to distort facts into prolefeed for the benefit of the Greater Unwashed, a/k/a the Fundamentals of the Economy (Kankerdom section); latest specimen therefor, thanks to Media Matters for America:
Which, as per established practice among the Conservative Propaganda Masheen, lacks credible substantiation or, still better yet, relies heavily on forgeries cooked up by the Dark Satanic Mills of Misinformation.

REGARDLESS OF WHO YOU MAY BELIEVE IN THE ONGOING PROPAGANDA SIDE BATTLES BETWEEN ISRAEL AND THE PALESTINIANSvis-a-vis the Israeli "preemptive" actions in Palestinian Gaza, there can be no mistaking the obvious:
Given Palestinian Gaza's rather limited territory and the density of its population (concentrated, by and large, on beautiful downtown Gaza City), a Major Humanitarian Crisis has resulted, according to the International Committee of the Red Cross and Red Crescent, who, in spite of all manner of obstacles and logistical nightmares, is trying to get humanitarian assistance into the worst-hit areas.
Especially daunting considering where many of the Palestinian casualties have had to be piled up in hospital corridors, in some cases with impromptu surgery being so performed.
Too, there's also the timing of the whole exercise, what with Israel calling new elections within measurable distance: Such, methinks, amounts to little more than an electoral distraction for the sole benefit of incumbent Prime Minister Ehud Olmert's Likud Party being "guaranteed sure victory" in the face of serious challenges by Tzipni Livni's Kadima party and a comeback attempt by Benjamin Netanyahu--the which deserves some serious enquiries.
Let alone the doubts among the Archie Bunker/Alf Garnett element wanting to support the Palestinian case in all this "for humanitarian reasons" based on "enemy-of-my-enemy" false analogy, all the while avoiding the prospect of being seen as Supporting Known and Notorious Terrorist Organisations, with the prospect of penal servitude ensuing.

FOX PROLEFEED'S NOTORIETY FOR CONTEMPT TOWARDS THE SO-CALLED "FUNDAMENTALS OF THE ECONOMY" IN THE GUISE OF "SAVING THEM FROM THEMSELVES" (as documented thoroughly by Brave New Films' NewsHounds blog) indeed deserves to be challenged.
Especially before they go into crude "winning of hearts and minds" mode to push for dusting off the Jim Crow-era "black codes" used to justify racial segregation in especially the 58 years between the 1896 Supreme Court ruling Plessy v. Ferguson (upholding the "separate but equal" doctrine which said "black codes" post-Reconstruction technically mandated) and its 1954 reversal in Brown v. Board of Education of Topeka by the same court--only this time, declaring "chronic and habitual" welfare dependents to be "idiots and morons" and, hence, subject to as much officially-sanctioned marginalisation and contempt by law as apartheid South Africa held towards blacks and "coloureds" (as the regime referred to such of mixed race).
Including, it may be safe to assume, the ilk of:
lower-income areas being declared "Special Economic Areas" exempted from mininum-wage, job safety and hours laws and other examples of "undue and unnecessary regulatory burden;"
the deliberate and willful "dumping" of pornographically violent materials upon such so resident (and then for purposes of Extreme Pacification more likely than no);
sexual licence and promiscuity being encouraged in said Federal Areas, officially endorsed as "cultural heritage;"
deliberate siting of liquor, tobacco, lottery and adult-related retailers in such districts;
the only financial services being so allowed limited essentially to "cashflow gifting" scams given Soverign Immunity from Prosecution all the while (not to mention same being entitled to mountebanks of otherwise dangerous or questionable repute); and
"law and order" essentially handed over to sadisto "vigilance committees" in the Black Legion stylee.
Such are the depths of depraved and perverted contempt for the same "Fundamentals of the Economy" that Fox Prolefeed claims to be defending and protecting; isn't that out-and-out doublethink in and of itself right there?
And how would Fox Prolefeed answer to such charges, as they ought to?

SO WHAT EXACTLY WAS THE CLEAR AND PRESENT DANGER THE JOE McCARTHY CROWD SAW IN "COMMUNISTS" IN FILMS, RADIO AND TELEVISION as excused the industry-sanctioned blacklisting back in the 1950's--fear that coded "body English" might be slipped into otherwise innocent-looking scenes that could be interpreted as calls to Workers' Revolution?
Meanwhile, with a number of prominent Hollywood celebrities (Tom Cruise and John Travolta among them) having been connected to the so-called "Church of Scientology," how do we know they're not sneaking coded "body English" themselves as could be subtle Scientologist messages?
*************
AND BEFORE WE GET ANY ABSURDLY OUTRAGEOUS IDEAS FROM THE WESTBORO BAPTIST CHURCH CROWD ESPECIALLY BLAMING HOMOSEXUALS for "diluting to the point of undermining" property values by purchasing foreclosed or tax-distressed real properties on the cheap (especially such in what were heretofore hubris-laden and @ once complacent working-class "white trash" neighbourhoods where arrogant pride kept property values inflated all the more with no regard for Reality), maybe it was time to ask them:
"Show us your facts, please!"
Or, otherwise, ask them (politely, of course) to Please Explain why these "facts" cannot be disclosed @ this time--and please spare us your likely platitudes about "reasons you will understand" preventing this.
Besides, have they any actual examples of neighbourhoods whose real-property values (as duly noted in publicly-available records) were "seriously compromised or otherwise diluted" solely by the presence of homosexuals as opposed to warped and misguided political ideology excusing especially "sub-prime" and "Alt-A" mortgage lending backed by "High-Yield Investment Programmes" under sanction of the State, and with reckless and utter disregard for sound business practice and Common Sense?
DISTORTION AND MANIPULATION OF THE HISTORICAL RECORD IS A FAVOURITE "WINNING OF HEARTS AND MINDS" TOOL PAR EXCELLENCE among the forces of conservative Zealotry and True Belief--especially so when it comes to attempts to derail President-elect Obama's proposed Socioeconomic Stimulus Programmes before Congress gets a chance to look @, let alone vote on, same.
As if forever insisting that "low taxes=jobs=social order and stability," not to mention a hard-wired delusion that it is possible (in theory) to attain a theoretical nil rate of unemployment within the parameters of free-market capitalism somehow held dear as an article of faith among conservatives--especially absent clear examples from elsewhere in the developed world in support of such a belief that America could learn from.
Case in point, per Media Matters for America:
In criticizing a large-scale economic stimulus plan favored by President-elect Barack Obama and congressional Democrats, a January 2 Investor's Business Dailyeditorial echoed other media by citing two historical examples -- the New Deal and Japan's "lost decade" -- as purported evidence that stimulus spending is "the least effective way to give the economy a boost." However, as Media Matters for America has noted, according to prominent economists, economic conditions in both 1930sAmerica and 1990s Japan were improving following major increases in stimulus spending--trends that were reversed only when the respective governments decided to cut spending and raise taxes in an attempt to reduce the deficit.
Criticizing the New Deal, IBD asserted:
In the 1930s, for instance, we went on an infrastructure binge, building new roads, dams and schools; electrifying the rural south and enlarging our ports, among other major tasks.
Granted, some infrastructure improvement was called for. But all that activity didn't pull the the [sic] country out of depression--not by a long shot. Unemployment averaged 17% in the '30s, and it wasn't until 1941--the start of World War II--that GDP returned to its 1929 level.
However, IBD's use of the average unemployment rate during the 1930s is misleading; historians and progressive economists have noted that unemployment fell from the time the New Deal was launched until 1937, when, according to Nobel laureate and New York Timescolumnist Paul Krugman, President Franklin D. Roosevelt reversed course. In a November 10 Times column, Krugman wrote: "After winning a smashing election victory in 1936, the Roosevelt administration cut spending and raised taxes, precipitating an economic relapse that drove the unemployment rate back into double digits and led to a major defeat in the 1938 midterm elections."
Additionally, IBD's assertion that "[u]nemployment averaged 17% in the '30s" appears to be based on unemployment data that does not include government-relief employment created by New Deal programs. Indeed, former Wall Street Journal writer Amity Shlaes--whose 2007 book, The Forgotten Man: A New History of the Great Depression, has been frequently cited by conservative media figures to dismiss the effectiveness of the New Deal--acknowledged that her unemployment figures excluded "make-work jobs," instead relying on data compiled for the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) by economist Stanley Lebergott. In a November 29 Wall Street Journalcolumn, Shlaes wrote, "To be sure, Michael Darby of UCLA has argued that make-work jobs should be counted. Even so, his chart shows that from 1931 to 1940, New Deal joblessness ranges as high as 16% (1934) but never gets below 9 percent" [emphasis in original]. After World War II, BLS ceased counting those in work-relief programs as unemployed, as noted by economist Gene Smiley in a 1983 Journal of Economic Historyarticle.
Of Japan's "lost decade," IBD wrote:
Japan followed the same Keynesian game plan after its real estate bust of 1989. To the applause of many American liberals, hundreds of trillions of yen were spent on infrastructure, raising outlays on big projects from 6.5% of GDP in 1990 to 8.3% in 1996 -- even more than contemplated under Obama's plan.
That didn't work either. The 1990s were a "lost decade" for Japan's economy, and the country is still stagnating. Its infrastructure boom did have one lasting legacy, however: Japan is now the most heavily indebted nation in the OECD.
However, contrary to IBD's assertion that stimulus spending "didn't work" in Japan, Adam Posen, deputy director of the Peterson Institute for International Economics, wrote in his September 1998 book, Restoring Japan's Economic Growth, that "the 1995 stimulus package ... did result in solid growth in 1996, demonstrating that fiscal policy does work when it is tried. As on earlier occasions in the 1990s, however, the positive response to fiscal stimulus was undercut by fiscal contraction in 1996 and 1997." Other economists and media figures agree with Posen that the positive effects of the mid-decade stimulus packages in Japan were curtailed by attempts to scale back spending and increase sales taxes, as Media Matters has noted. Krugman, for one, points to Japan's fiscal stimulus packages as having "probably prevented a weak economy from plunging into an actual depression."
Which makes you wonder if the aforementioned Investor's Business Daily is really nothing more than a shill for the Zealots and True Believers in the Ayn Rand model of "pure capitalism" as Great White Father, so to speak, as would empower the Lower Classes to a New Golden Age of Industry, Self-Reliance, Personal Responsibility, Thrift based on Cash Economy and a Wholesome and Simple Home Life.
Including the ilk of various K Street groups seeing the defence of "pure" capitalism as one with that of America's "antient and pecuilar soverignty and soverign identity," and that the two are somehow intertwined and interconnected. Never mind that the Constitution says nothing about free-market capitalism being essential to national and/or soverign identity.
Especially given a world view suggesting that America=The World, and vice versa, and that the "morally superior" American peoples should think along such lines--preferably through doublethink and goodthought.
...EXCEPT MAYBE TO SUGGEST THAT THE DOYENS OF CONSERVATIVE PROLEFEED, WITH THEIR OBVIOUS APPEAL TO THE VULNERABLE AND MARGINALISED, may want to reach for Sympathy Soothing Syrup (and remember, Sympathy spelled backwards is "Yhtapmys," in case you've forgotten the old Jack Benny gag inspired by the slogan for Serutan laxative all those years ago--"Read It Backwards").
BTW, whatever became of Serutan?

UNLESS TECHNICALLY OUTGOING SENATOR NORM COLEMAN MANAGES TO PULL OFF HIS WILLIE LUMPLUMP ACT BEFORE THE MINNESOTA SUPREME COURT, expect it to be a given that Democratic Senatorial candidate Al Franken, thanks to an exceptionally thorough hand recount of election ballots, will claim his seat as the Junior Senator from Minnesota by edict of the Minnesota Canvassing Board sometime within the day.
And we know the canards and patsies ex-Senator Coleman will be playing: That there are more absentee and postal ballots still under lock and key as were yet uncounted on "technical points;" that said ballots were kept out of the loop to protect Franken's "trick and deceit" in winning sure electoral victory; that many of the votes for Franken were somehow counted twice, creating an artificial advantage further raising issues of "trick and deceit" on the Franken campaign's part; that Secular-Progressive elements dommo the Canvassing Board, and so on ad infinitium to the point of obnoxiously frivolous or vexatious.
Which, in its turn, may leave the Minnesota Supreme Court with but little choice other than dismissal of Coleman's claims "with prejudice"--in legal terms, "final and binding."
=============
AND FOR THOSE STILL INSISTING THAT LIBERALS AND SO-CALLED "SECULAR-PROGRESSIVES" ARE NOT ENTITLED TO POSITIONS OF POWER AND AUTHORITY, in effect making its corridors the exclusive monopoly by a Christian Conservative "elect***entitled as of right" supposedly based on Unwritten Custom and Tradition, need I remind you that History reminds us of where such complacent attitudes and mindsets, otherwise known as Maschienpolitik, only provides incentives for corruption, barration, waste, fraud, inefficency and, in due course, School for Scandal.
As in the likes of such infamous political machines from history as Huey "Kingfish" Long.
Richard Daley the Elder.
James Patrick Curley.
Tom Penderganst.
"Boss" Frank Hague.
Which ought be studied as lessons and warnings of the old maxim about "power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely" in action.
And, for the sake of fairness, the excesses of apartheid South Africa, thanks to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission.
*************
IF YOU THOUGHT EVANGEL TONY ALAMO'S MARTEXTIAN ARGUMENT THAT WOMEN SHOULD BE MARRIED ONCE THEY REACH THEIR PUBESCENCE was rather bizarre, even considering his invoking Biblical Justification therefor, consider the case of "Mika" and "Anna-Lena" from Hannover, Germany (ages five and six, respectively) who wanted to get married down Africa way--only to go as far as the Hannover railway station, where police started getting suspicious and contacted their parents before they were able to get to the airport.
(Making matters worse, they didn't have the airfare, and their only possessions were bathing suits, sunglasses and a li-lo, if that.)
*************
IF THERE'S ONE SUBPOPULATION TAKING AN ESPECIALLY UNHEALTHY INTEREST IN THE ISRAELI "PREEMPTIVE ACTIONS" IN PALESTINIAN GAZA OVER RECENT DAYS, it would have to be the obnoxiously self-conscious "European-American" community of the mostly poor, undereducated, easily-led and socioeconomically marginalised seeing in David Duke and his ilk their "salvation" on the same level that white Afrikanerdom across apartheid South Africa were expected to see in the National Party and its several affiliates expected to reinforce Afrikaner Honour and Patriot Love.
A mindset in the "there but for the grace of G-d go I" stylee, hoping to use the Obama/Biden regime in Washington as a "battle cry" to "racial consciousness" not seen since the worst excesses of Nazi Germany (and, in a way, apartheid South Africa and Rhodesia). Aided and abetted, no doubt, by "action alerts" expecting White Christian America to take a more conscious stand "for racial pride and honour" all the more through the likes of "deeper study" of news broadcasts.
Your Correspondent, for his part, thinks that the only race which matters is the human race.
Besides, the Nazis notwithstanding, "Aryan" has no ethnological validity or qualification in describing a sub-species of Caucasoids "having non-Jewish, northern European origins, especially Nordic such;" in fact, the term is Sanskrit, and technically belongs to those of Indo-Iranian origin. How "Aryan" came to be associated with Nazi ideals of racial superiority is anybody's guess, but suffice it to say that gutter literature played a part in sowing the seeds.
And Another Thing: Animal breeders will tell you that attempts to create a "pure-bred" line of any species (humans included, no doubt) only risks serious genetic harm to the point of causing Undesirable Traits of Breed to be all too numerous in time.
*************
NO WONDER THE HOMOPHOBIC COMMUNITY IS SO HARD-WIRED AS THEY ARE IN THEIR BELIEF THAT "SOY IS FEMINISING" (as in unwittingly leading to Homosexual Tendencies being developed over time): Next thing you know, expect such to push for a heavy excise tax on soy-based foods (especially soy milk, soy curd and soy-based meat substitutes), the proceeds therefor subsidising the cost of "real" meats and dairy products in lower-income or otherwise culturally-deprived environments "@ high or extreme risk of breaking out in epidemics of homosexual tendencies" in due time.
All to be excused as a "preemptive" action "to prevent the further spread of homosexuality" based on discredited psuedoscience dusted off for ideological purposes.
And if such doesn't have the Desired Corrective Effect, then expect them to consider Drastic Measures amounting to legalising prostitution in Designated Federal Areas (low-income, for the most part) as a "preemptive measure" for such aims as just explained--not to mention an old-school freak show depicting Homosexuals As They Really Are (or so stereotypes of the Religiopolitical Right seek to perpetuate) making the rounds of disreputable travelling carnivals in low-income parts of the country before settling down in Branson (and without any qualms about children being "corrupted" by such displays of homosexual behaviour in its most stereotypically lurid form, excusing such as being "educational" and yet "healthy").
PERHAPS THERE MAY STILL BE A PLACE FOR THE SO-CALLED "BUSH DOCTRINE" OF "PREEMPTIVE ACTION" in a post-Bush America--in this case, cutting short rather obnoxious displays of conservative propaganda and "enlightenment" blather with this iconic Australian advertising jingle, and in a rather loud, ear-splitting stylee:
I like Æroplane Jelly, Æroplane Jelly for me! I like it for dinner, I like it for tea, A little each day is a good recipe! I like Æroplane Jelly, Æroplane Jelly for me!
(Making this more worthwhile as an effective means of "preemptive" deflation of conservative propaganda excess: The same version of the jingle as recorded by five-year-old Joy King in 1938 continues to be used to this day "Down Under" in radio, cinema and television advertising for this iconic Australian product--as well as their website--even if the Australian subsidairy of the American firm of McCormick now owns the brand.
(In the same league, no doubt, as Vegemite, Milo, ETA Barbecue Sauce, Sanitarium Weet-Bix, Napi-San diaper sanitiser, Arnott's Biscuits, Cottee's Coola cordial and Allen's Minties among Australian consumer-brand icons.
(And did I mention another likely reason being the fact of Keith Rupert Murdoch being of Australian extraction himself?)
